Finally! I have managed to get Viral HQ live again and it’s about time.
My name is James Fraser. I originally launched the site in 2005, the vision for it then being that it was to become the leading archive / graveyard for viral video campaigns. My ulterior motive was to use the site as a means of lending kudos to my name and getting me noticed amongst the industry I intended to work in. The ulterior motive worked and having left university without a degree, I am now strategy director in one of the leading social media / viral marketing agencies in London, Diffusion Media. While the site served its purpose in this respect, it was badly neglected (and badly designed to be honest) and I had to take it down until I thought of a better use for it.
Here was Viral HQ in ye olden days (Web 0.5 design) :

I’ve been thinking recently, that having been so focused on my career in the last two agencies I’ve worked for, I have lost focus on what it is that really matters for a practitioner of social media marketing; namely that you must practice what you preach. While we always create great social media presences for our clients, it really is important to maintain your own image online, particularly in this line of work. I have an underused personal twitter account (@memeseeder) and an un-updated LinkedIN (www.linkedin.com/in/viraljames) – amongst other profiles – which were supposed to serve this purpose, but I would really rather have the space in which to share some more in-depth insights and thoughts on the industry. What better way to do this, than to re-launch the old site that got me into this business in the first place? Hopefully it looks a lot less of a dinosaur and will be of interest to my readers, whoever you may be.
